Christmas: Deco Mesh & Ornament Garland Wreath

Sometimes the best laid plans turn upside down on a girl, yes, indeed, my plans to make a beautiful new wreath were set up one way in my mind, but the creation process of said wreath looked nothing like my well thought out plan!  Let me back up for a second, to say that I was a happy camper to have found this teal, light green, and silver ornament garland in Walmart was an understatement.  IMG_6095.JPGIMG_6094.JPG

I had added the same exact thing only in burgundies and golds into my staircase garland and beyond so I knew that it was crazy easy to work with…or, so I thought! lol  Gnashing of teeth and pulling out of hair is what comes to mind when I think of myself making this particular wreath…BUT, it was all worth it in the end because it turned out beautifully. 🙂

Admittedly this one cost me a pretty penny to make as I ended up having to use 2—yes 2 of those ornament garlands and each one cost $24.98…so $50 alone just in the garland, yikes.  I had purchased 2, but my thoughts were to only use 1 on the wreath…harkening back to my very first “the best laid plans” sentiment…yup, didn’t work out the way my mind’s eye had planned.  ANYway, here is the entire supply list for this wreath—All of the rest of the things that I purchased were on sale for half price at Hobby Lobby, so in reality it didn’t cost me *that* much to make considering how pretty it turned out in the end–less a few teeth and hairs…;)

Supply List

  • 1 16″ Metal Work Wreath (with the silver chenille ties already attached)
  • 2 Boxes of 8.5′ Shatterproof Ornament Garland (from Walmart)

Here is a link:  Shatterproof Ornament Garland

  • 1 Roll of 21″ x 24′ of White Deco Mesh
  • 1 Roll of 5.5″ x 30′ Silver Deco Mesh
  • 1 Roll of Wired Craft Ribbon (White w/Teal and Blue Sparkly Snowflakes)
  • 2 Silver, Spiky Picks
  • Pipe Cleaners, Hot Glue Gun, Scissors, & Wire Cutters

All right, instead of lamenting further here in this blog post, below you will find a link to my YouTube tutorial where you can see how I put this entire wreath together. 🙂  First though, a few pictures of the finished wreath, I placed it in my living room and have now dubbed this space as my “teal cozy corner”:
